Help usVacancies for committee members – see 7 below There are endless ways to help us continue the work of the charity, but first a reminder for clients: Our long-term
future, and our ability to keep treating your pets and those after them, depend
in part on your putting something back into the charity which does so much
for you and your pet. Our underlying deficit of around £26,000 means we
need to maintain our publicity and fund-raising to minimise it.
Everyone could do something, and just a little time here and there would help
us enormously. Supporters
wanting to help our fund-raising by organising something involving friends,
neighbours, youth/voluntary groups or workmates in some fun might like to
pick something from the list below. The charity’s fund-raising team
will be happy to help with publicity and other support - leaflets, collecting
tins, posters, etc. There are wider opportunities further below.

Think
also about the following opportunities, or maybe you have talents we haven't
thought of? Please contact the Clinic if
interested, or for help and support, someone to come and speak about the
Clinic, etc. 1.
Make a Will Legacies are
our second biggest source of income, after clinic fees. They are our best chance to make up
the £26,000 annual financial losses we suffer in funding the clinic’s
subsidised work. Making
a Will need not cost you anything.
We will pay the costs of making a Will, or a pair of Wills for a
couple. Making a Will could be
your best way of helping this charity after it has done so much for your
pets. Ask
at the clinic for a leaflet. 2. Our
newsletter Our
newsletter is a vital tool in publicising the clinic's excellent work and one
of our main links to our supporters. We need material to put in it to
interest our readers - stories about your pet, hints about animal care,
things people have done for us or animals, etc. 3. This website More or less as above. 4. Join the charity For an annual membership subscription of
only £5 you can become a member (Life member for a one-off £25, all
subscriptions gift aidable) and receive our newsletter and invitations to our
AGM and Open Evenings, with a chance to look round the clinic and chat to the
staff and committee.
Applications forms from the clinic. 5. Recruit us some new members and/or bring
in some donations We are
keen to expand our membership.
Our previous Chairman recently signed up his sister and her next door
neighbour as life members, then sold his sister 10 old frozen roast potatoes
in return for a further donation to the clinic. 6. Make a donation Visit our on-line donation facility
at Charity
Choice. 100% of all donations will reach us - no charges or
commission are involved, and we only spend an unavoidable minimum on
fund-raising and administration so as much as possible of all donations goes
directly towards helping animals. The facility includes a Gift Aid
option. Alternatively, take or post your donation to the clinic, where
a Gift Aid form is available on request. A £100
donation will buy 20 cat vaccines, 25 suturing needles with thread, 316
litres of saline solution or 13 microchips. Donations don’t need to come out of your
own pocket. Do something for a
neighbour or relative in return for a donation to us. One of our trustees was recently
given £50 for the clinic for walking someone’s dog, and earlier £75 for some
work on someone’s garden pond. 7.
Join our committee Help
spread the workload - we need Committee Members/Trustees (see
our Charity page), particularly in the areas of
fund-raising, public relations and approaching charitable trusts, local businesses
and community organisations for grants, donations and support.

Behind the scenes
Generally helping out - folding and sending leaflets, collecting donated
goods, driving volunteers to and from collections, tidying up our cellar,
general odd jobs. 9.
Help our PR Write an
article or send in a picture about your pet for the newsletter or website.
Put out leaflets in your neighbourhood about the Clinic's work. We
would also like to hear from you if you have skills in web design and
management or desk top publishing. 10.
Community liaison Help us
develop our relationships with businesses, community groups and other
charities. Put out and manage collecting tins in selected businesses
near where you live e.g. pet shops, care homes. Everyone could do something to help The
proceeds of our fund-raising activities go almost entirely towards the
charity's work in giving subsidised veterinary treatment to pets in need of
our support. Only an unavoidable minimum is spent on fund-raising and
administration. This is in marked contrast to many national charities,
with expensive headquarters, staff, campaign and advertising costs. So
anything you raise for us, or give us, will be put to good use. |
